English Heritage Displays
English Heritage were the parent body of the Royal Commission on the historical Monuments of England (RCHME). They carried out the research, survey and archive functions of English Heritage and ran the National Monuments Record (NMR) in Swindon. The RCHME were involved in the development of the old railway works (on the same site as their offices), which were converted into designer retail outlets. With large numbers of shoppers soon to be passing their front door the RCHME took the opportunity to open a gallery shop to sell their posters and books.
We were asked to design and create two bespoke displays inside the retail centre.

The first looked like the sort of display cases you might have seen railway timetables displayed in during the age of steam and allowed the RCHME to present posters that could easily be changed, along with a dispenser containing new leaflets we created on the history of Brunel and the Great Western Railway in Swindon.
The second display was effectively 4.5m tall glass doors mounted into a blank arch in an original wall in Brunel's factory.
The doors carried graphics that could easily be changed. The majority of the graphics were reverse applied translucent self-adhesive vinyl so that the beautiful coloured bricks of Brunel's wall showed through and around our message. The doors could be opened for cleaning and graphics changing.
